A region in the spotlight
When looking at the “where to go” lists for 2027 from the major travel voices, one region keeps appearing - my home region, The Nordics. Not as a trend that comes and goes, but as a steady presence among the places travellers are talking about.
Finland steps forward
The Northern parts of Finland appeared on the 2026 lists of Condé Nast, National Geographic and Travel + Leisure - praised for its sauna culture, northern lights, nature reserves and Sámi culture. For me that is a reminder that the Nordics offer far more than its beautiful postcards.
Also AFAR singled out the Stockholm archipelago as a standout for the year: Thousands of islands, ferries instead of cars, forest paths leading to the water, and an easy return to the city for dinner. It is the Nordic idea of luxury in a nutshell - space, simplicity and nature on your doorstep.
Nordic stays earn their place
In the 2025 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards hotels, such as Sommerro in Oslo, were recognised among Northern Europe’s most exceptional stays. Design, heritage and quiet confidence are a recipe travellers clearly respond to and what we also curate into our journeys across the Nordic countries.
And last, but not least - my hometown and where Time To Journey is based - Copenhagen was named the world’s most liveable city for 2026 in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Index. Add world-class food, design and a relaxed, walkable pace, and you understand why the capital of Denmark always feels so good to visit.
What connects it all
These places share something I often experience many travellers are craving: Space to breathe, honest food, nature close at hand and a slower rhythm. It is less about ticking off sights and more about how a place makes you feel.
And that’s exactly what we have built our journeys around. Join us in Denmark - The Full Fairytale or the Grand Nordic Midsummer journey through Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Come in winter for Christmas - The Nordic Way from Copenhagen and Stockholm to Lapland, or for our Northern Light & Viking Wellness.
